Proenza has introduced us to a whole new color palette.

If I were a PS1, this would be me.

$100 Shopbop Gift Card Giveaway

// Mint by Goorin panama hat / vintage top / Forever 21 skirt / GAP wedge ankle boots / Charlotte Russe cat eye sunglasses / Casio watch //

Because I know everyone loves a good giveaway, I've teamed up with Shopbop to give you a chance to win a $100 gift card to use at their site.

Every time I stop by, their selection seems to be ever-expanding. So much so that I was surprised to see that they've even added a new Shopbop Wedding Boutique for all your wedding dress needs. Now if only it was around when I was shopping for my dress!

I also found some pretty colorblocked basics from the Calvin Klein Collection as I was browsing around.

Gosh, I think those linen cap toe shoes are calling my name...

The giveaway will run until Saturday, May 7, so be sure to get your friends and family into the running!

All you have to do is comment with a link to your favorite summer item on Shopbop and leave a name and email address. Yep, that's it!

While you're waiting, you can always drop by their Shopbop on sale to grab a few discounted items or even start that wishlist for when you win.

Just sayin'.

Cat Parade

// Zara top / Vince skirt / Forever 21 feather earring / vintage cuff / Target moto boots //

I'm completely drawn to animal prints even before the whole Miu Miu craze took off. Luckily for me, that trend spawned a whole range of readily available animal-covered clothing and accessories. I found this top sitting by its lone self at Zara. The last of its kind I believe. Most people don't know what's going on with this blouse at first, and then, upon closer inspection, I see a smile start to appear.
Cats!! Yup.

Hope everyone had a good Easter!

Bryan reminded me that if I wanted to get my chocolate fix, today would be the day. Half off chocolate bunnies? I can't say no to that.

Not at Coachella

// Forever 21 top / Tripp NYC pants / Faryl Robin wedge boots / POP fedora / vintage clutch //

Yes, I would have loved to go to Coachella, but alas, such was not the case. I feel like it's one of those seen and be seen events anyway. That being said, I wouldn't have minded catching Ariel Pink, Crystal Castles, Moving Units (wow, they're still around?), Two Door Cinema Club, Paul van Dyk (because he brings me back to my days of rave), and The National. I know, I know. What can I say? I love music. Speaking of which, Houston is having its 3rd annual Free Press Summer Fest with a pretty gnarly lineup. I've never seen Weezer live, so I'm looking forward to finally seeing them. They're an oldie but a goodie. I hear Yeasayer is pretty good too.

Here are pics from last year's Summer Fest:
Lookee...

Fun, stuff, eh?

I Love Me Some Mudbugs

// vintage dress, belt, necklace, and purse / By Paige fox loafers from SoleStruck //

Jessica and I devoured some of her deeeelicious crawfish the other night and boy, were they good! She perfected her recipe, so the spices were just right! I've never had home-boiled crawfish, but I am now very much inspired to try cooking them myself. Just hope those little suckers don't give me as much of a hard time they gave Jess when she was trying to cook them. Eeeep!

I'm pretty much in love with my new fox shoes. There is one thing I believe every girl needs and that's a good pair of versatile black flats. I've been looking for a pair with just that extra something special, and I found them! They come in a variety of animals, but these in particular remind me of one of my favorite movies, Fantastic Mr. Fox. I don't know if any of you got a chance to read the interview of the By Paige designer on Solestruck's blog, but how cool is it that she's from Houston?! I think I found a new obsession and will have to stop by her shop to see the rest of her designs in person. If you're considering a pair, purchase a half size bigger. They're super comfy, and I can't recommend them enough!

For Linda

// Dorothy Lee top / Rojas highwaist shorts / Converse Chucks / F21 hat / Zara bag //

Recently, a friend of ours was seriously injured in a scooter accident, leaving a long road ahead of her to recover. I was really amazed at how quickly everyone in the community sprung to action to make this benefit happen. Her friends from the foodie community and roller derby all came out to support the fundraiser. There was a bake sale, live music, food trucks, and a silent auction with items that would make any food lover jealous.

Linda, we hope to see your smiling face out of the hospital soon!

More Austin Travels

// Forever 21 flannel top / Serfontaine shorts / Sigerson Morrison boots / belt from Marshall's / Zara purse //

Austin is one of those towns you just can't get enough of. The town is super laid back, but there's always something going on. Bryan and I were in town this past weekend to see British rock band, Wire. Before the show, our friends who moved to Austin recently took us to a '50s-inspired bowling alley called The Highball. All the retro decor from the sputnik lamps to the vinyl cushioned highbacks really struck a chord with me. Plus, the rich colors came off classy and cool rather than cheesy.

The place was far beyond just a bowling alley though. It appeared to be a rockabilly night with live music and dancing and... the food was fabulous. I never would have thought I'd be singing the praise of bowling alley food, but I was pleasantly surprised. I indulged in Dr. Pepper ribs and fries that came with a side of demi-glaze sauce, while our friends enjoyed the quail wings. {Other food items eaten but not pictured: Baller cheese plate, New York Strip (my friend says it's the 2nd best she's ever eaten), and the blackened fish Blue Plate special} It was a good night overall besides feeling sick and light-headed in the middle of the show. Yep, legendary reunion show, and my normally chipper self decides to take a nose dive. Still not sure what hit me, but everything turned out fine in the end. Nothing a little water and sitting at the bar with your hands propped against your head can't fix.

By the way, here are two Austin bands I've been totally diggin' lately:

MoTel Aviv

The Black and White Years

Both amazing bands live.

Just Around the Corner

Bryan's most Ari moment.

Remember these guys?

The anatomy of a Monte Cristo ball.

My Fraggle self donning my new Little O by wolfbrother necklace. I love!!

The weather has really warmed up these past few weeks. So warm, in fact, that I'm wearing a tank and shorty shorts (which I did not capture in all their glory). I've recently subscribed to several event lists for Houston after Bryan complained that we weren't getting out much. Lo and behold, things are actually happening in my city all the time!

I captured these photos at the Menil Community Arts Festival which was just a skip and a hop away from our home.

What is everyone else up to lately? Are you taking advantage of the warmer weather?
