Halloween Hiccup

// cardigan c/o Langford Market / Romeo & Juliet Couture tunic top / Target ponte pants and wrap ring / vintage beatle boots / Dimoni bag / vintage bracelet and citrine ring / Forever 21 sunglasses //

This past week was definitely the longest work week I have ever experienced. Going home at midnight and waking back up at 6 is no fun. Unfortunately, that meant any Halloween plans were up in the air and a Halloween costume? Don't even think about it. My motto is: "If you don't go big, go as nothing at all." Don't feel bad for me though. What could have been a ruined Halloween ended up turning out pretty pleasant. Bryan and I stopped by a small local theater to catch some short plays produced and directed by a couple of coworkers (you didn't know lawyers could act or direct did you?) and ended the night at a friend's Halloween soiree. The party was very accommodating for those without a costume. I utilized the blank labels and Sharpie awaiting me at the front door, and voila! an instant Steve Irwin costume (RIP). I also chowed down on candy corn (my fave!) and green finger cookies while getting in some extra convo time with friends I rarely get to hang out with.

Hope everyone had a happy Halloween and yay to sugar comas!

Stephanie Di Guisto

The art direction in Vanessa Bruno's latest campaign videos is brilliant and brought to you by Stephanie di Guisto.

She does beautiful work, doesn't she?

Underrated IMHO. Elbows, they need protection too.

A Little Taste of Italy

Amarena Black Cherry Swirl, Strawberry Lavender, & Hazelnut Mocha Swirl from Paciugo

If you've ever been to Italy, you know you can find gelato on every corner. I finally found a place in Houston that stays open late and has flavors like sea salt caramel and black pepper olive oil. Call me crazy, but I've never been one to crave ice cream or anything of the sort. I think that's all changing...

En Route to Whatever

"The Firecracker" pizza
Sweet Potato Fries
Medianoche Cuban sandwich
Guanciale Burger

Enjoyed delicious food and local brew with friends at Plonk. I was pleasantly surprised by this new cozy gastropub that sat in a nondescript shopping center. A great place to chill with buds and the food is definitely worth coming back for.

Afterwards, Bryan and I went to see Battles...

I was a little overwhelmed when I first walked in three songs deep, but I was quickly pulled in by the fun sounds and funky beats. Progressive yet accessible with just enough quirkiness to make you feel like you were sucked into an 8-bit video game. I admit the only song of theirs I've ever heard was "Atlas" from playing Little Big Planet. I'm so glad Bryan dragged me to the show (on a work night no less!) because I am now a new fan.

To make this somewhat fashion-related, here's an outfit shot. The second photo is my moment of realization that I was becoming fresh mosquito bait.
And now you know why I always wear pants.

PFW

Gah! I'm in love with these snaps from Paris Fashion Week:
open knits and feminine prints
fuzzy sweaters and studded clutch
sailor stripes and riding hat

leather and tweed

Staring at these pretty combinations has inspired me to put together my own fall ensemble.

items from La Garconne, Les Nouvelles, and Otte.

Something's Fishy Round Here

// vintage tank, bag, and boots / pleated fishtail skirt c/o Langford Market / necklace from Loehmann's / leather cuff from Green Dragonfly Jewelry / Casio watch //

Just realized how Halloween-inspired this outfit looks. So why not throw in a Halloween cat for good measure? Yep, atta boy. It's almost kind of scary (no, pun intended) how quickly Halloween has crept up on me. Maybe this year I'll actually do something. What's everyone dressing up as? Without a proper costume, I'm doomed to stay in like a lame-o again.

What I've come across so far:

Bryan and I can be invisible people or part of the Blue Man Group without the paint.

Pixelated? I'm thinking way too many photo ops.

I feel bad for this dog.

So bad yet sooo good. Reminds me of that Basket Case movie.
