My Favorite Time of Year

// Étoile Isabel Marant coat / Majestic Paris camouflage top / Fragile skinny pants / Woman by Common Projects boots / Dimoni bag / Target scarf / UO watch / old rings / Essie Aruba Blue polish //

Is that a cool breeze I feel? Yes, alas, it is! We are finally getting those on-again, off-again cold fronts that give me reason to pull out my winter gear. The next place I live will have real seasons, I swear. BTW, how did everyone fare in the sales? I made sure to avoid any retail storefront this weekend and made my only purchase today (online, of course) which I will show later in a post. I've decided that these sales are a total scam, and I need to run away as far as possible from them, which includes deleting any tempting emails telling me how awesome your sale is. Take 50% off, and then we'll talk.

I've been working on a couple of personal projects, so budgeting has been key, and I've realized that I need to scale down my wardrobe anyway. I get in these phases where I get disappointed at how overly consumeristic my habits have been.  Sometimes I just need to take a step back from my materialistic life and look at the whole picture.  Having a blog and being an avid reader of blogs seem to make that endeavor just that much more difficult.  It can easily suck you into that fast and furious world of fashion and consumption where "keeping up with the Joneses" is norm.  So on that note, I'm off to read an eBook that Bryan recommended, Clark Howard's Living Large in Lean Times. You can purchase the hard copy version here or better yet, check it out or download it from your local library like I have.

    1. Thanks Andres! Yes, I'm all for an amazing deal, but I think Black Friday/Cyber Monday can get a little out of hand if you're not careful. Or shall I say if I'm not careful.;p I decided to keep myself out of trouble by avoiding it all together and it worked!

  3. Yeah we don't really have seasons over here either so I know what you mean. Cool that you're finally able to break out your coat. I have the same one or similar. Love it and how you styled it! Liking the nice pop of color with the jeans that fit you awesomely by the way. I got a couple of things I'd been wanting but didn't really go crazy. I like what you had to say about consumerism. I think it's all about finding a good balance. :)

    1. Theresa, your seasons are all good! :D We have the dreaded heat for half of the year. Cali is on the top of my list for places to move to! Oh yes, I completely agree! I have nothing against consumerism as I am an active member, but you are absolutely right that balance is key. I think sometimes I just need to give myself a breather. BTW, I think my coat is the Xabi too but in a different colorway!
