Easy Does It

// Alternative Earth sweat top {cool oxblood version} / Jill Stuart denim skirt / Common Projects ankle boots / bracelet made by mom //

As a Texan, it's not uncommon to see Western wear during rodeo time or on the occasional Austin hipster.  So when Isabel Marant's F/W 2012 collection came out, I was not completely sold on the idea of the luxuriously chic cowgirl.  Nonetheless, I've been known to wear my fair share of cowgirl gear such as plaid shirts and western style boots and have always been a fan of piping, embroidery, and those oh-so-slick snap buttons.

At a recent jaunt to one of my favorite secondhand stores, Buffalo Exchange, this Western-inspired Jill Stuart skirt caught my fancy.  It ran slightly on the large side and had an A-line cut, so it was immediately sent to the tailor for a more desirable fit.  I've been loving sweats lately, so I guess you can say this is my take on the urban cowgirl look!

  1. This is a really nice outfit and I love the sweatshirt and boots. The boots are a slightly more refined take on the Marant Dickers? Are they navy? I'm searching everywhere for a pair of navy suede boots like yours but I'm afraid I can't afford your pair which are divine. Such a cute skirt. Oh to be ten years younger and with legs like Bambi.

    1. Hi Sue! Yes, the Woman by Common Projects boots are a sleeker and less western version of the Dickers. The color is a bluish charcoal with a light wooden heel. I had been eyeing these and purchased them at Francesmay.com at the end of the season with a discount code. I haven't seen a navy version, but I can keep an eye out for you! :)

  7. The skirt is really great, it's subtle on the Western motif and still feminine at the same time.

  8. Lovely outfit, Teresa. Interesting remark on Isabel Marant's chic cowgirl collection, being a Texan yourself (in line with Aliya's post the other day). To be very honest, I quite prefer your take on the chic cowgirl look... Isabel's clothes were a bit too much for me (too much money to start with...).

    1. Thanks Sonia! I guess you can say I've always liked the western motif, but I think it's best in small doses. ;)
