No Fancy Camera Here Buddy, Just Me & My Spirit

Vince. leather bomber jacket : Comrade necklace by Little Ghost Designs : Tommy Hilfiger breton top : Flying Monkey Jeans : Salvatore Ferragamo riding boots

I've been constantly dreaming of a new dslr. I already have one in mind. It's just a matter of ponying up the money to buy it. Besides the cost, I've been having a mental battle regarding whether or not I even need such a fancy schmancy camera. I mean we all know "need" is relative, right? I already dread carrying out my pseudo-dslr (point-and-shoot on the inside, dslr on the outside) because of its size. Will I feel the same way about a real one?

I would love to test out a new dslr at SXSW which is coming up the third week of March. I get excited just thinking about it. Ok, I'm pretty sure my mind is already made up on purchasing one. I've even redeemed my Lexis and credit card rewards for Best Buy gift certificates. So yes, I've been preparing. It's just a matter of when. Any thoughts or advice on the matter is greatly appreciated!

  5. I really want a new camera also! I'm on the fence about buying a dslr. I know I would love the better quality but I'm not sure if I carry it everywhere.

  10. I think I might be having the same thoughts regarding buying a DSLR..Last weekend, I used my sister's which is not a DSLR but does look like on the outside and I got a few sneers as if I wanted to look like a pro. Well, after much pondering, all I have to say is that the quality of the work has made me think the laughs and shame will be worth the sacrifice. Not to mention that, at first people laugh, but after a while they will be begging for you to take their photo ahah

    Love the casual look

  16. Joana: I haven't received any nasty looks yet with my pseudo-dslr but whoever looks at you funny for that is just rude. I believe most of the point-and-shoots that look like dslrs tend to have a really good zoom. To get the same amount of zoom on a dslr, you would have to purchase a really expensive lens. Mine, for example, has a 12x zoom which is really more than I need but good to have.

Sasha: Eek! I don't know if I can take myself seriously if I wear faux prescription glasses. I might feel a little silly! ;) Maybe I'll just say they're indoor sunglasses...

Thanks everyone for all the comments! I have made a final decision on the dslr I am going to buy. Yes, I even went to the camera store to compare. After much researching, I have decided on a ___. Sorry, that's to be revealed in a future post! :)
