Blue Safari

// Waterproof button down top / Express khaki shorts / vintage weave belt / Steven Madden wedges / Zara purse / no name big face watch / vintage bracelet / Charlotte Russe cateye sunnies //

Blue has been my latest obsession especially with chambray and 70s sky blue denim becoming so popular. The calming color goes with just about anything. This top was a recent Buffalo Exchange score for $13. Not bad for such a versatile and classic piece. The khaki shorts are an even better find IMHO since they were recycled from the depths of my black hole of a closet. Got one of those too? Seriously, I just never know what I might find. I don't even own a walk-in, yet it seems like every time I dig a little deeper, I find something new.
Amen to that!

Exile in Austin

Some exciting news!

My friend's band, The Happen-Ins, who have been featured on Sea of Shoes and now, the July catalog of Free People, will be playing the catalog release party this Friday at my fave Austin venue, The Mohawk. For all you Austinites out there who love fashion and music, don't miss out on this free show!

So wish I could be there but this woman's got to work. I'm not just excited for them, I'm ecstatic! Congrats to the guys on all their hard work and amazing rock n' roll!
I'll be there in spirit!

Lakeshore Drive

// striped maxi c/o Langford Market / Deena & Ozzy sandals / Forever 21 bangles and sunglasses / vintage belt / Skagen rose gold watch //

Enjoyed a relaxing weekend with the in-laws at their house on the lake. Yes... it was preeety hard to pry myself away from this when it was time to go home. Although my mother-in-law can make some mean Southern food, we switched it up this time around and had Japanese-style shish kabobs and veggie tempura inspired by recipes from one of their favorite restaurants back in Arlington.

Before leaving, I made sure to grab some fresh tomatoes (and random bell pepper) out of their garden. It's always a treat to return to the city with homegrown produce. Nothing like right off the stem!

If you haven't noticed, I have a new sponsor which I am super excited about! Langford Market is hands down my favorite affordable boutique in town. Besides the cute clothes and personal shopping experience, the place is decorated with art and reupholstered vintage furniture (yep, enuff said) that are also for sale. You don't live in Houston, you say? Never fear, they have a store in Austin, San Antonio, and New Orleans. I wouldn't be surprised if there was one popping up near you.

They always seem to have something right up my alley like this maxi dress that reminds me of a summery version of Acne's striped Extreme dress which I have been coveting since last year. This lighter version definitely fills that void.

Two-Faced

// Mint by Goorin hat // Nasty Gal leopard top / Earnest Sewn jeans / Steve Madden wedges / Desmo bag / Alex and Chloe necklace / Forever 21 ring / Casio watch //

I absolutely freakin' love this top! Double-sided with a sheer yet bold leopard print graphic on the back. I don't know what it is about leopard print, but the fact that it can be tacky, sexy, and whimsical all at the same time makes me oh-so-happy.

Lately, I've been indulging in some Nip/Tuck. Because of the awesomeness that is Instant Netflix, I get to watch shows that I've always heard about but never got a chance to watch either because I didn't have HBO/FX/enough time. Every time they show a gory surgery scene, I just pretend I'm the doctor. It doesn't hurt either that a-hole Dr. Troy is kinda cute. I've also been trying to get through Twin Peaks (22 episodes to go!), and I have the first season of Mad Men sitting on my coffee table. I'm feeling a little ambitious, but I think it's worth a shot.

Sir, Is That a Bag or Are You Just Happy to See Me?

Not too long ago, I received one of those forwarded emails from a friend. Normally, they get deleted pretty quickly but this one caught my eye. Art on a carryout bag is nothing new, but they sure are getting more creative!
