// Zara linen top / Joa + Closet ponte pants / Madewell Essex satchel and bracelet / Galina Kurlat bullet necklace / Nettie Kent and Pamela Love ring / Vans slip-ons //

Just a casual in-between look while the weather yo-yos back and forth from warm to cool.  I've been eyeing this Madewell bag since I first saw it online and then later in the store.  The leather is really beautiful, and the colorblocking just happens to be in all my favorite fall colors.

I brought back these super comfy slip-ons from my last trip to Austin, and I'm already considering another pair.   With all the new Céline options out there, I'm still loving the original checkered pair.  My soft spot for the '80s wins again.

Last weekend I had a chance to tag along with Bryan on a long layover to Minneapolis. We arrived late on Friday night and left Saturday afternoon. Bryan's layovers rarely fall perfectly on a weekend, so I jumped at the opportunity to check out a part of the country I had yet to venture out to.

When we arrived that rainy Friday evening, we started off our weekend with a little bar hopping that began at The Local, a hip pub in the area of downtown that we were staying in.  Saturday cleared up enough for us to enjoy a nice walk across the city with our start off points at Walker Art Center and the adjoining sculpture garden as well as the Basilica of St. Mary.  We walked across the river to the northeast side of town and watched Ron Howard's Rush at the St. Anthony Main Theater, which I highly recommend!  Going into the evening, we snacked on pierogis at Kramarczuk's (must return here!) before heading to our dinner reservation at The Butcher Block.  After a satisfying Italian dinner, we stumbled across the retro piano bar, Nye's Polonaise Room, which I just found out was named the Best Bar in America in 2008 by Esquire.  I think that headline still rings true.  With the main act being a pianist who can accompany you on any tune (think karaoke with a live musician backing you), the lively atmosphere is filled with the young and the old and has plush booths for eating some of the best prime rib in the city.

I really got a great vibe from the town with all its pretty parks, niche neighborhoods, and well-groomed hipsters.  I'll be back Minneapolis, and I'll be riding those bikes you have conveniently lying around the city, hoping the weather permits.

A COUTURE CAUSE Calendar Launch Party

I'm in dire need of catching up on this week's posts, so I'll skip my weekend trip (for now) and start with what went down yesterday. If you missed out on my previous post, last night was A Couture Cause charity fundraiser at Tootsies. Calendars were sold, donations were made, people got a little boozy... a total success!

No party's complete without some photo booth action!

Mark Your Calendars for...

Ladies and gents, be sure to come out next Wednesday for the unveiling of the 2014 A Couture Cause Calendar benefiting two great Houston organizations, Orange Show and Youth Hope Association. The calendar, a concept developed by Tamar of the The Shoe Diet and Lyndsey Zorich of High Heels and Handlebars, features a diverse group of ladies who share a love for fashion and philanthropy.

With a 1920s burlesque theme, unique cocktails mixed up by some Houston favorites, booze-flavored cotton candy (HELL YES!), catering from Pondicheri and SWEET, and sweet jazz sounds, you won't even realize it's still Wednesday. Hope to see you guys out! To RSVP, click HERE.
