Military Hues

GAP Kids denim jacket : Target muscle tank : ASOS cargo skinnies : GAP wedges : thrifted bag : ASOS hinged armor ring : Day-Lab "Sonny" bracelet

I've been eyeing those darn Houlihans since they first came out but was turned off by the hefty $200+ price tag. Since then, other brands have been slowly churning out their own version of the skinny cargo pants. Thankfully, I'm a pretty patient person and stumbled upon this pair on ASOS when they were offering free shipping and an extra discount. I've always loved military details but my sudden indulgence in army colors is bringing a whole new range of neutrals into my wardrobe.

The Two to My One

Trudy's- yummy Tex Mex recommended by a friend. Next time I'm coming back for the stuffed avocado.

The wrong white balance mode ended up turning out pretty cool.

Stumbled across my dream home.

Dream home's mailbox.

Who keeps deer in their backyard??

Ominous clouds trying to ruin my fun.

Love the dark industrial decor at Blackmail.

Hubby takes a swing at photography. (not bad, babe)

He had me at "ruff."

Wandering around the overwhelming yet inspiring uncommon OBJECTS. This place will blow you away if you're looking for vintage home decor.

Ended our trip at Big Top, where I downed a refreshing cucumber soda and ordered an egg cream (creamy chocolate soda) for hubby but then forgot he was lactose intolerant. Oops.

The second installment of our Austin trip.

Austin Night Lights

This past weekend Bryan and I took a trip out to Austin to see the Swedish psychedelic rock band, Dungen. I've never been much of a hippie, but with adorably upbeat Swedish lyrics and entrancing melodies, I've been a fan of the band's music since the first time I heard them. Lucky for us, the venue happened to be next to the Austin Daily Press trailer. If you're a food network nerd like me, then you may have been following The Great Food Truck Race. The eggplant parmesan panini definitely hit the spot!

The rest of the night consisted of bar and food truck hopping all over downtown. If you're ever in Austin and you're into sausages, then make sure you get your booty over to Best Wurst. I often crave a good dog and this place when I'm in Houston. A miracle cure if I do say so myself. I was hangover free the next morning.

More photos of A-TX in my next post. Truth be told, I would love to live in this town. Great music, topography, and a food truck on every corner. I'm diggin' it.

Holy Pollock!

vintage blouse : Forever 21 suspenders : Serfontaine shorts : thigh highs from Taiwan : Jeffrey Campbell wedge booties : vintage and diy bracelets

Found this fantastically loud ink blot blouse at my local resale shop and pretty much immediately had this outfit in mind. I wanted to add a little bit of a menswear touch to balance out the girly bow and then sex it up with some thigh high stockings. Has anyone been able to find an affordable pair of thigh high leather boots that has a max 3" inch heel, hugs chicken legs, and doesn't make one look too trashy? If so, call me! For now, high stockings with ankle boots will be my cheap alternative.

Around the World

[What I'm wearing: Vanessa Bruno top : Acne skirt : Stuart Weitzman pumps : Zara bag : Forever21 necklace]

As I mentioned in a previous post, I had the opportunity to check out the Paul Mitchell Hair Show which was aptly themed "Around the World." Above are some highlights I captured at the event. I was drooling over the huge food selection. Unfortunately, no one told me there was going to be food, and I was still full from dinner. I did sneak in a couple of mini cheesecakes though. (Yum!) How cute is that last photo of tattooed Miss America with her man and baby boy?

And... the winner of the Marc by Marc Jacobs earrings is...
