Summer is definitely here! The heat has become close to unbearable and all I want to do after coming in from the heat is take a nap. Sigh. Well, at least with the warmer weather, I can prance around in high-waisted shorts and vintage florals. I am now totally addicted to shorts. Just need to make sure to carry my bug repellent with me at all times. Those suckers can sense my presence even before I get out the door.

Later that evening, I ate my very first Little Big's slider. Bryan Caswell, the owner of Reef, opened up the joint about a year and a half ago, and I'm still surprised why I never wound up here on a late night food binge. I mean, they have everything I need- sliders, wine, and beer. Oh, and did I mention they also serve White Russian milkshakes? When you think of Sliders, White Castle comes to mind, but here, it's all about mini-burgers with a gourmet twist. B and I tried their signature beef slider topped with caramelized onions, the breaded chicken slider, and the Carolina-style pulled pork slider. My favorite was the pulled pork. It was sandwiched between just the right amount of slaw for that scrumptious crunch and texture. And to think that I didn't even know what Sliders were until a few years ago. Thankfully, they're open til 3am on Fridays and Saturdays.

The first time I came across Aesa's exquisite designs was in Barney's CO-OP, and I made sure to make a mental note of this line. Her "Machine de Terre" collection is a modern take on the crystal necklace trend which I am quite fond of. The metal details add an edgy elegance while the beautifully colored stones give a hint of earthy color to your outfit. Definitely on my wishlist.

I was thoroughly impressed by his DJ set. He mixed in some dub and got the entire crowd riled up. Just the way I like it. For the night, I donned on my best space suit.

What I've Been Up to Lately...

1. Soup dumplings

I've now had soup dumplings thrice. Once at Joe's Shanghai in New York, once at Din Tai Fung in Taiwan, and the most recent experience at Fu Fu Cafe in my very own hometown. And the winner is... Joe's Shanghai! Can't wait to return to New York for some more squishy goodness! Seriously, if you live in New York and have never tried these, then you and your tastebuds need to run not walk and get yo' self some of these magical bundles of joy!

2. BarBri

Yes, boys and girls, the exciting world of Bar Review. I had a weekend in between my last final and my first day of BarBri, and all I can say is I can't wait til I get a break where I can actually go to (a) the beach (b) on a roadtrip or (c) the beach. My legs are getting pathetically pastey.

3. Plenty of food porn opportunities.

One of the upsides of going to BarBri is that I'm surrounded by new restaurants within walking distance. Case in point- Straits. Singaporean cuisine in a beautifully clean and modern backdrop. Despite the Texas heat, their outdoor canopies kept us cool throughout our entire meal. Hey, might as well put that 1-hour lunch break to good use!

BTW, I've been getting into pins lately and found some really great ones at my favorite resale shop. This lovely swallow with the ruby eye reminded me of Miu Miu.

Pink hued co-ed bathrooms anyone?

Somehow, I managed to squeeze in graduation. I can finally add another abbreviation to my resume.

The reception afterward was quite impressive. I see where all my tuition went. Macaroons...

and an amazing assortment of dessert treats. Ok, the seafood paella, cheese display, and prime rib were not bad either, but my sweet tooth couldn't help but get 2 plate fulls of mini pastries. What better way to end your very last school experience than in a sugar coma?

Here's another pin I picked up. I thought it was appropriate to don this cutie on my big day. How could anyone say no to that face?
